Draper, UT – December 13, 2001 – Learnframe™, the leading developer of
e-Learning infrastructure technologies, participated in Plugfest 5 in
Orlando, Florida, November 26th - 29th with tremendous results. For the
first time, a learning management system (LMS) provider was able to
demonstrate its compatibility with SCORM 1.2 by delivering Sharable
Content Objects (SCO) from multiple repositories.
Plugfests are events designed to validate and document progress in
meeting the collective requirements of the SCORM™ specifications. SCORM
(Sharable Content Object Reference Model) is a set of interrelated
technical specifications designed to meet the Department of Defense's
training needs.
For years, people have been speaking about the promise of a product
that would take learning objects from multiple repositories and deliver
them in a cohesive format to the learner. In order to demonstrate this,
Learnframe participated in Plugfest 5 showing their interoperability with
Learning Objects Network, Inc. (LON), an Internet infrastructure company
providing services to publishers, corporations, government and military
organizations. Learnframe and LON joined forces to show that SCORM’s
vision is now reality.
"Learnframe and LON were the center of attention at Plugfest 5 because
of their ability to demonstrate what others have only been theorizing,”
said Trey Mooney, director of product management at Learnframe. “We were
able to show how Sharable Content Objects (SCO) are identified through a
database search and then retrieved from multiple repositories to be
delivered to the user’s learning plan in Learnframe’s LMS. Plugfest 5 was
a huge success for Learnframe!"
“Our presentation with Learnframe created an incredible level of
excitement,” said John Purcell, CEO of Learning Objects Network, Inc. “It
is great to be part of a team that is able to bring much needed and highly
valuable solutions to the e-Learning world.”
Learnframe further demonstrated SCORM 1.2 compatibility with their
learning management systems by launching learning objects from a variety
of content developers.
This is the third time Learnframe has participated at an ADL Plugfest.
“Learnframe enjoys participating in events like Plugfest,” said Michael
Memmott Sr., chairman and CEO of Learnframe. “These are great
opportunities to show the quality of our learning management systems.
Learnframe developers work hard to make Learnframe products the best in
the industry and Plugfest is an event where we can showcase our
technology.”
